Westampton committee planning to select new member tonight - July 08, 2008 http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/112-07082008-1560129.html By MARK ZIMMARO Burlington County Times   WESTAMPTON — A new Township Committee member will be named tonight to replace a member who resigned last week. During its meeting tonight at 8, the committee will choose from three candidates to fill the seat left vacant by Republican Joe Byham. The committee received a resignation letter from Byham on July 1. “It was a decision I made with my family,” Byham said yesterday. “I have three young daughters, and I wanted to be able to spend more time with them. It really came down to that. Byham, 46, served on the council for the past seven years. He was the deputy mayor at the time of his resignation, having been named to that post in January 2007. “I just didn't want it to get to close to election time before I made the decision,” Byham said. “It's a lot of long hours and time away from my family. I just didn't want to go another year if my heart wasn't completely in it.” The three candidates to replace Byham are Eric Elmore, Barbara Potash and former Committeeman Danny Miller. Byham thanked the community in his letter of resignation, Township Clerk Donna Ryan said. “He stated that it was an honor to serve the township over the last seven years,” she said. Lot of thought not going on his mind. Also how did the 3 candidates to replace him get chose so quickly being today is only July 8? Since Dan Miller lost the election awhile ago, he still controls what's going on and pulls the strings of his puppet buddies on the Committee... I'd bet a paycheck that Miller will be appointed tonight. This was a done deal before Byham ever resigned. How come the rest of Westampton was not notified to apply for the position?
